GopherConEU 2026

This year we were invited once again to run a TinyGo workshop at GopherConEU. I can’t thank Natalie, Donna and the rest of the organizers and volunteers enough for making it happen.

After two years we went back to Freestyle Krunchberg Futsaal Krutzberg Festsaal Kreuzberg. One day I’ll learn how to spell it without searching for it. I’m in love that place. The beer garden is topnotch even though this year it was a bit chilly on the first day.

K-POP Gopher lightstick

My daughter’s life now revolves around K-Pop Demon Hunters, Huntrix, BTS, BlackPink,… so naturally, since we’re getting into the K-Pop culture, we discovered the existence of the “K-Pop lightsticks” or “army-bombs”. Do you know about the Taylor Swift LED bracelets? Well this is much better, see below a little sample of how many are (each group has one - with different versions)

So I made one KPOP Gopher Lightstick:

TinyGo Conf 2025 JAPAN

On October 12th, the first-ever TinyGo Conf happened in Tokyo, Japan. I planned to write about it sooner, but I did so many things during my trip that I didn’t have the time nor strength to do it until now.

It was only possible thanks to the amazing TinyGophers community in Japan, something I could never have dreamed of when I first heard about TinyGo, not when it “officially” debuted at FOSDEM ’19, nor during all the achievements we’ve reached over the years. The TinyGo community in Japan, especially the Keeb people, are special. They’re doing all kinds of cool things: meetups, workshops, books… so when I heard they were organizing the first-ever TinyGo Conf, I had to go. Thankfully, they invited me to give a talk and have a booth/table to share some of my work too. I can’t thank them enough. Even with the language barrier, my family and I felt very welcome (like VIPs!!). They’re super nice, kind, and of course… a bit crazy in the best way.

GopherCon Europe 2025 - TinyGo HackSession (2x)

GopherCon Europe 2025 is over, part of TinyGo team went there to do a TinyGo HackSession as previous years, plus Ayke had a talk about multicore support too!. I can say it was amazing and I had a blast there: meeting old friends, making new ones and a bunch of interesting talks you should have listened to, and let me tell you how good the food was.

I should start saying that last year I couldn’t enjoy it as much because I had some family issues and my suitcase with a lot of GopherBadges, I had to give to some nice gophers that paid for them, (and my clothes) were delayed. This year it went better, besides a few delayed flights and the usual airport shenanigans: my personal record with 5 times in a row I was selected “at random” at the metal gate for drug test, luckily the 6th time I broke the curse (that doesn’t mean my carry-on wasn’t checked - as usual).

TinyGo Keeb workshop at GopherCon.EU 2025?

The TinyGo Keeb Tour 2024 & 2025 is a series of workshops held all around in Japan about the TinyGo Keeb zero-kb02, which is a DIY keyboard whose firmware is written in Go (TinyGo). The first half of the workshop is physically building the keyboard (a bit of soldering, putting pieces together), and the later half is about the software and possibilities of the keyboard itself. It started with part of the great and awesome TinyGo community in Japan: sago35, micchie, ysaito, taknb2nch, … but has grew since then, with t-shirts and even towels of the event!

Changes in the shop

I have made a few changes on the GopherBadge SHOP that will simplify my work behind scenes. Until now, I used to duplicate the items, so I could offer the same product without shipping cost added. This means I needed to maintain two versions of the same content, stock and images, but on the nice side, it was almost impossible to choose the wrong shipping method.

GopherBadge SHOP

With the TinyGo Keeb and its different colors it’s a bit hard to keep track of the stock, so I’m testing to having only one copy of each product, and offer the local/event pickup along the shipping options:
